Junction Hut, new | Kopuwai Conservation Area, Otago
The new Junction Hut was dragged over the hills from near Roxburgh in January 1972, along a road built in 1957, and remains in almost original condition.
Two rooms with mattresses on bunks and one, and a living room with plenty of stainless steel bench space and storage below, plus another bed with a mattress.
The area below the hut shows evidence of Depression-era gold mining energy expenditure.
Junction Hut is jointly owned by DOC and Glenaray Station. There is an easement to the hut for walking access only.
