Green Gate Hut | Coronet Peak Station
In view of the nearby goldfields, this was probably built as a minor cottage, but later was used as a musterers’ hut for those hardy souls at Coronet Peak Station.
Now redundant for that purpose, it is about halfway along the 50 km Coronet loop track mountain bike trail, which was opened in 2022.
Few use it for accommodation these days, but it is maintained by the Queenstown Tramping and Historical Society and is now available to the public.
It’s basic, with a fireplace, but limited wood around. Bunks, but few mattresses. It has a renovated roof for shelter and a newly constructed toilet.
