Lake Mackenzie campsite | Routeburn Track, Fiordland National Park
If it’s a choice between the confines of a 50-person hut accommodation or your own spot removed from the crowds, many would opt for seclusion at Lake Mackenzie campsite.
Lake Mackenzie campsite is a great location. Pity the artificially grassed sites aren’t more suited to the activity of camping, ie, not exactly level and somewhat lumpy. Don’t camp by the lake, it can get significantly underwater in a hurry, and, in any case, the hut warden will stroll up and insist you move.
