Thisbe Hut | Catlins Conservation Park

A biodiversity support hut, built in 2006, is one of three two-bed bivvies on the site. The other two are windowless and have various leaks.

The new one has a large deck and a brick barbecue stove, and you enter via a decent porch into a typical bivvy. Flyline, with a decent Stainless steel bench.

Two main problems. Mice like swimming in the rainwater tank, and you may need to go down the 150 m to the creek for water. And mosquitoes can somehow get in through the screen ventilation grilles, meaning sleep may elude you.

You need permission to cross private land to get to Thisbe Valley Track and MacLennan Hut. Contact: Josh Carins 027 534 3866
