Boundary Creek Hut | Oteake Conservation Park

Hard to tell the vintage of this fully renovated hut. It has been re-piled, re-clad with corrugated steel, and re-lined internally with plywood, new if small windows, plywood floor, bunks, stainless steel bench, ply table, and wood burner.

This has a 2005 feel about it.

The clue is the old door, hinges and jambs that look more like 1940s, ie, an old musterers’ hut.

Slightly soulless and claustrophobic with the windows so high, meaning you need to stand to look out.

Actually used by four-wheel drivers for lunch on their travels, or bike packers going over Omarama Saddle.
