Jubilee Hut | Silverpeaks Scenic Reserve

Jubilee Hut is a well-appointed DOC hut built in 2008, offering an excellent little adventure for enthusiastic teens. Yeah, it’s a decent challenge with some climbing and descending involved.

It is favoured by families with its proximity to Dunedin, so you are bound to have company. Hence, the requirement for booking.

It’s a generic DOC hut with many similar huts around. They’ve worked out that the sleeping platforms can pack people in, 10 in this instance. It has a big communal table with two picture windows to take in the view and the occasional direct sunlight.

No wood burner due to the lack of nearby vegetation, and wood would have to be choppered in. Fortunately, the Dunedinites are a tough breed.
