Meg Hut | Pisa Conservation Area

Meg Hut is an easy walk in from the Cardrona Road on a four-wheel-drive track. It was built in the 1860s, with a tented kitchen for the sheep musterers at the back, and the old stone chimney still there. In the 1920s, the hut was extended with a concrete floor poured at some stage in the 1960s. It is in reasonable condition, although you need to bring your own firewood.

Must have been used by gold miners during the Depression, as there are plenty of stones piled up on the other side of Roaring Meg.

It’s a great first overnighter for a family, due to proximity to the road and the decent accommodation.
