Mueller Hut | Aoraki/Mount Cook National Park
One of the great New Zealand outdoor day trips or overnighters, for the energetic. That means it’s often fully booked, so you may need to book your space a few days before during much of the year.
It’s quite a climb, and you get up in a hurry, ie, it’s steep.
The track to Sealy Tarns has timber steps; by the time you get there, you are halfway. But then it’s more uneven underfoot with plenty of boulder hopping.
The hut is very well appointed with a wide deck to stand and listen to crashing avalanches dropping from Mount Sefton, 3,151 m, across the Mueller Glacier.
Worth the effort for the reasonably fit.
