Veil Bivouac | Rangitata/Rakaia Headwaters Conservation Area
A splendid location on a lateral moraine that is well-marked from where the climb starts, a bit up Veil Stream.
The hut was once located on the other side of the Havelock River but was relocated and renovated in 2017 as the previous site was dangerously unstable.
The lack of heating is a possible disincentive to staying in cooler months, although the full complement of three visitors would be cosy in the confined space.
Great bivvy, though.
