Huxley Forks Main Hut | Ruataniwha Conservation Park

This old New Zealand Forest Service hut has had a major rebuilding, where it has been re-piled, re-clad inside and out, new roof, double-glazed windows and insulation, and a large water tank installed. The bunks have been reconfigured into two sleeping platforms that now house ten mattresses.

A good easy tramp for teenagers for the weekend, and an introduction to hut life. Well shaded in winter.
