Forbes Bivvy | Te Kahui Kaupeka Conservation Park

A lovely little New Zealand Forest Service bivvy built in 1963. It’s had basic maintenance from DOC and has been painted inside and out.

The open fire isn’t used much due to a lack of decent firewood around.

Used mostly by tahr hunters and climbers attempting Mt D’Archiac, 2875 m at the head of the Forbes River valley.
