Erceg Hut | Ruataniwha Conservation Park

The easy nature of Hopkins Valley travel changes just past Dodger Hut, and from there much of the route is rock hopping in the riverbed of a narrowing valley. Eventually, a sign points up to the hut, which is otherwise well hidden. Climb up the stream, taking the true right branch, looking for large triangular orange DOC marker up the steep bank of the stream. The hut is just over the bank about 20 m.

A tight little four bunker with no heating, so winter accommodation will require a decent sleeping bag.

Mostly used by hunters or adventurers wishing to visit Richardson Rock bivvy, still some distance up the main valley.
