Another blue sky day.
Many people would be surprised that the best coast weather is winter, with a high-pressure area camped mid-Tasman and the southerly blowing elsewhere.
It was dead calm.
I walked into town for a coffee.
Later, I went down to Lake Matheson for the near sunset view.
It’s such an attractive walk, with two busloads of young Chinese tourists amongst others, congregating together in the wilderness.
The best view is ¾ of the way around the lake on the north side, the Island of Views, but by the time they wandered around, the young folk had had enough and were intent on heading back to civilisation in haste.
I pointed out Aoraki and Tasman to a Canadian couple with a young family.
“Would you want to climb that mountain?” I asked the oldest.
“No, but I’d watch someone else on YouTube,” he answered.
I didn’t let on that I agreed with him.
