Doubtless Hut | Lake Sumner Forest Park

Doubtless Hut is a typical New Zealand Forest Service SF 70 hut in almost original condition, at least the open fireplace remains. The open fire was rebuilt in 2022 by the Backcountry Hut Trust.

The poor orientation and lack of big windows or insulation mean that mould is a significant issue, but don’t let that put you off.

Before you go, buy 1 Standard Hut Ticket (blue for adults, red for youth) for each night of your stay. Put this in the honesty box at the hut. A Backcountry Hut Pass is also valid year-round.
