Andersons Hut | Lochinvar Forest Conservation Area

Andersons Hut is an early two-bunk New Zealand Forest Service hut, built in 1955 and has been neglected for some decades. It has now been taken over by Mount White Station, and apparently, you need permission to visit, although it is unclear who polices this requirement.

The interior corrugated steel is festooned with graffiti from long-forgotten people. One bloke, Theodore, has written his life story, born in 1911 and working on Mt White Station in the 1950s.

The bunks are dusty, and there are plenty of cobwebs, but there is some hope that the hut will be renovated to its former condition at some point in the future.
