Carlyle Hut, Lake Sumner Forest Park

Great little two-bedroom hut with a small living area with an open fire and kitchen bench between.

Recommended to follow the longer four-wheel-drive track up the river terrace at the start, because the official track is not marked, and as at January 2022 is completely overgrown. Fortunately the track gets easier the further up the valley you go, although there are some river crossings involved. The hut is a short distance and not visible from the river, so look out for the markers.

You need permission from Glenhope Station for access from the Hope Bridge to Carlyle Stream – phone 03 315 7697.
