Horseshoe Flat Hut | Moeraki River, South Westland
An easy-ish three-hour walk up from the Haast Paringa Track. But not much visited due to the cul-de-sac nature of the valley.
Another NZFS SF 70 hut, in great condition, although it has its original open fireplace replaced with a wood burner, a clearlight panel installed in the roof, and a water tank also installed for some reason. It is potentially sunny in summer, but it would be cold in winter.

Before you go, buy 1 Standard Hut Ticket (blue for adults, red for youth) for each night of your stay. Put this in the honesty box at the hut. A Backcountry Hut Pass is also valid year-round.
