Newton Range Bivvy | Newton Range
Newton Range Bivvy is a tiny two-person bivvy near the top of the Newton Range ridge, accessed by a decent track from the Styx River, ie, Grassy Flat Hut, or by a strenuous scramble from Mount Brown Hut. Without a GPS it is somewhat difficult to find, particularly if foggy.
Note that this is a little bigger than a four-person tent, and while you can sit up on the bench, the door is two-thirds height, and standing up inside is not possible.
The water is from a close-by tarn. Great views down the Arahura River valley to the Tasman Sea, weather permitting.
