Big River Hut | Victoria Forest Park

This might be the endpoint of a lovely walk through the West Coast forest from Waiuta. Moss looks like a green waterfall covering some slopes, and just a lot of shades of green on show generally. One short stretch of wandering down a small stream, but otherwise well benched.

The hut is large and perched above the old mine settlement, and the four-wheel-drive track comes in from Reefton below.

One big room with sleeping platforms, so it’s totally social. No escape there.

A great first tramp for the kids.
