I woke early with the idea of going to Nardoo Hut, but realised there’s more work to do on the track up Burn Creek. I was completely packed up and ready to march off when I decided to stay another night.
What a good idea, so I unpacked and found some tasks to do. First, I got into some more wood cutting with my folding saw. I cleaned the rainwater tank and filter where I could. Fortunately, no stray mice can get into the tank due to the various filters.
It took a while to get rid of some of the cobwebs, of which there were many.
Then it was time for a short walk above the hut and beyond the helicopter pad. Then, I went up the valley and looked at the route around the waterfall and beyond. I realised it would be a time-saver compared with Point 1952, as it is more direct and you don’t have to climb and descend an extra 100 metres. The cost is a few minutes of peril on wet rock with some drop off. It probably saves an hour or so if you don’t worry about heights and a slippery footing.
Overall, it was a fairly relaxed day, where I got to experience the hut in reasonable weather for a change. Glad I stayed.
