Forks Hut | Mavora Lakes Conservation Park

Forks Hut is an old musterers’ hut constructed in the 1920s from silver beech saplings, rimu, and corrugated steel. The building paper has disintegrated, and the interior wall lining has been removed. A concrete floor slab was poured, probably in the 1960s.

Excellent siting with views down the valley, and closer.

The four-wheel-drive track is rocky in places and has claimed a few vehicles.

Mostly used by hunters, stray fishers, and random locals.

Could do with some Backcountry Trust love.
