Green Lake Hut, Fiordland National Park
Nicest hut in the area, with the best location. That makes it a relatively popular destination.
Green Lake Hut is sited just out of the forest in the tussock field. This newish hut has splendid views of Green Lake, Mount Cuthbert, 1248 m, Rocky Top, 1450 m, with the Kaherekoau Mountains, around 1400 m, in a gap in the hills across the lake.
Two tracks to get there: the hard way, direct from Lake Monowai campsite with a steady 800 m climb, DOC states 6-7 hours, but others may take longer, or, alternatively, from Borland Bivvy and that is considerably shorter and easier.
