This may tell you how I roll.
I was in no great hurry to get home.
I had all day, so why not go via St Arnaud? It’s always sobering to see the profusion of vegetative and bird life when predators have been trapped for close to 30 years by enthusiastic volunteers. It makes you realise how devastated much of the national park is by possums and deer, with rats and mice eating the seeds.
I had my Merlin bird identification app out on a walk through the lakeside forest and could identify the bellbirds well enough. But it reported hearing a tui?
Maybe the app confuses bellbirds and tuis, as their songs are similar. Then, a tui came sweeping through the forest at low-level, just above my head.
Okay, it’s much better than me.
Time to head home.
