Slaty Hut | Mt Richmond Forest Park
Those with energy in excess after the 1300 m trudge up the hill to Starveall Hut can continue on to the well-sited Slaty Hut, just adjacent to the bushline, you get the mountain beech forest and the tussock tops in one location.
A standard NZFS hut from back in the day has been renovated with the open fireplace replaced with a woodburner; painted inside and out; and is as comfortable as any along the route.
