Hacket Hut | Mt Richmond Forest Park
The refurbished hut isn’t far from the roadhead and therefore gets a few day-trippers and mountain-bike riders passing by. Despite the flow of Te Araroa trampers raring to move on, it is in reasonable condition.
There’s a fair climb, 1300 m, before the next hut heading south—Starveall Hut.

Before you go, buy 1 Standard Hut Ticket (blue for adults, red for youth) for each night of your stay. Put this in the honesty box at the hut. A Backcountry Hut Pass is also valid year-round.
