Fishtail Hut | Mt Richmond Forest Park
This alpine hut is above the tree line and is really lashed down by wire ropes due to the fierce southerly winds that sweep in. No heating. You would need to be, or become, close friends if the hut were at capacity.
On a clear day, there is a great view to the south, and then from the top of Mt Fishtail, an hour up, the full 360° vista. Not such a trudge as you might expect.
Certainly worth a visit. Overnighting gives that potentially great sunset and sunrise thing.

Before you go, buy 1 Standard Hut Ticket (blue for adults, red for youth) for each night of your stay. Put this in the honesty box at the hut. A Backcountry Hut Pass is also valid year-round.
