Granity Pass Hut | Kahurangi National Park
Not quite on a pass, or adjacent to Granity Creek, this new DOC hut has been built to high standards with double glazing and full insulation, as well as a big verandah.
It is popular for much of the year, in part due to sections of the Lord of the Rings being filmed near here. Don’t underestimate the grunt required to climb up the steep and waterless track. As they say, worth the effort. As is the climb to the highest hill in the area, Mt Owen at 1875 m.
