Soper Shelter | Kahurangi National Park
Soper Shelter is a short climb up from the junction of the South branch of the Stanley River, and Lake Stanley. Similar to the nearby Cobb Tent Camp it is constructed from a local timber frame, and a canvas roof and walls, lashed together by ropes.
The area has a profusion of birdlife, despite what 1080 opponents state, including rare kākā, kākāriki, whio/blue ducks, etc.
A fun place to stay.
