Goat Creek Hut | Kahurangi National Park

Once, you needed a major expedition to get to Goat Creek Hut, but with the construction of the Old Ghost Road, now you just whiz in sitting down rather more effortlessly.

This is somewhat small for a four-bunk hut, but some building materials were lost when originally dropped from an aeroplane and the size of the hut was necessarily reduced. So now the character of the place is quite concentrated.

This is for those who enjoy a brush with history, and like to keep their accommodation costs down at the best level: it’s free to stay. Camping is also free.
