Casey Hut | Arthurs Pass National Park

04 October 2015: Casey Hut has been burned down.

Casey Hut burned down on 2—3 October 2015. If you plan on visiting this area DOC recommends you carry a tent.

Casey Hut used to be the halfway mark on the Casey/Binser Saddle two day excursion that is commonly used by school parties. It was located in a sunny nook on the river flats.

One of the old Lockwood huts, you used to be disturbed by the hut’s creaking for much of the night.

Let’s hope it doesn’t take long to be replaced. In the meantime you will have to proceed 1.5 hours up the valley and stay at Trust/Poulter Hut as an alternative.
