Bobs Hut | Nelson Lakes National Park

One of the first NZ Forest Service SF7 0 huts built, but it is 400 mm longer than those later built in large numbers.

Not quite sure why they felt an additional two bunks were appropriate here because it’s never been in a high-use area, and East Matakitaki Hut isn’t far away.

Handy when popping over Three Tarns Pass from the Lewis Pass.

There is a photo of the mysterious Bob on the wall, actually a little shrine, and his “grave” outside . . .

Adult (18+ years): $15.00 per night
Youth (5–17 years): $7.50 per night
Child/Infant (0–4 years): free

Before you go, buy 1 Standard Hut Ticket (blue for adults, red for youth) for each night of your stay. Put this in the honesty box at the hut. A Backcountry Hut Pass is also valid year-round.
