Tonga Quarry campsite | Abel Tasman Coastal Track

Note that due to Cyclone Gita storm damage in early 2018, this campsite has been permanently closed.

The attractive Tonga Quarry campsite sat adjacent to a beach that encroached into the camping area during a large storm, washing away a good proportion of it.

There are a few artifacts remaining from the days when it was actually a quarry, ie, over 100 years ago, the Nelson Cathedral steps were extracted from here.
