Cannibal Gorge Hut | St James Conservation Area

Cannibal Gorge Hut is situated on a grassy flat with good views down the upper Mariua River valley to the Lewis Pass and with a backdrop of the substantial peak, Gloriana, 2218 m.

The hut is somewhat of an anomaly: the two bunk rooms each have a three-storey tier of bunks giving 22 sleeping spots, there are 22 mattresses; the kitchen/living area is orientated away from the valley view, any view; and it’s only another hour or so to Ada Pass Hut, so many progress to there.
