Coldwater Hut | Nelson Lakes National Park

Coldwater Hut is a vastly superior alternative to the nearby Lakehead Hut.

Why?

A third the cost might be one reason but there are others. Coldwater faces north, ie, the sun, with a great view down Lake Rotoiti and with the nearby jetty with its multitude of eels. Even great camping nearby in the mature red beech forest. All in all a good un.

And that may account for its massive popularity during school holidays, get there early.
