Bobs Hut | Nelson Lakes National Park

One of the first NZ Forest Service SF70 huts built, but it is 400 mm longer than those later built in large numbers.

Not quite sure why they felt an additional two bunks was appropriate here because it’s never been in a high-use area and East Matakitaki Hut isn’t far away.

Handy when popping over Three Tarns Pass from the Lewis Pass.

There is a photo of the mysterious Bob on the wall, actually a little shrine, and his “grave” outside . . .
