Mokihinui Forks Hut | Kahurangi National Park

Mokihinui Forks Hut is located on a river terrace overlooking a grassy expanse near the junction of the two Mokihinui River branches. It was made famous by the removal of an enormous “500-year-old” kahikatea tree immediately outside the hut when the Old Ghost Road was constructed.

It had been incorporated into the Old Ghost Road system but is now back to DOC administration and free to stay.
